DC vs CSK 2021
DC emerged victorious against Chennai Super Kings to move one point clear at the top in Match 50 of VIVO Indian Premier League 2021 at Dubai on Monday.
Shimron Hetmyer played an outstanding 28* to help DC pull off an unexpected win under pressure en route to their 10th win of season and one point clear at the summit.
Delhi Capitals won the toss and elected to bowl first. Prithvi Shaw looked in great form as he hit three fours and two sixes during the powerplay, while Hetmyer managed to remain unbeaten on 28* thanks to a dropped catch in 18th over.
CSK were struggling to gain momentum as they regularly lost wickets, until Ambati Rayudu and MS Dhoni joined forces to rebuild the innings, taking it deep into the 40s. Rayudu eventually found his stride, hitting Rabada full-tosses for fours and sixes before hitting Avesh Khan half-tosses for sixes to reach his fifty in 17 overs.
In the penultimate over, they combined to score 51 runs to take their total past 130. But after this surge, Axar Patel removed Dhoni in 15th over, followed by Shardul Thakur dismissing Hetmyer for short leg in 18th over.
With the score at 133-6 in the final over, Dhoni attempted a big shot but was caught behind at deep square leg before Moeen Ali ran himself out while trying to hit one out quickly.
DC required one run from two deliveries but Bravo’s miscue at slip put them under immense pressure as DC needed one off one delivery each over in order to win their match-up.
DC vs CSK 2022
DC have an ideal combination of youth and experience in their squad. Prithvi Shaw and David Warner make for a formidable opening pair while Rishabh Pant, Rovman Powell and Mitchell Marsh offer valuable cameos in the middle order.
All these players have enjoyed outstanding seasons so far and will be motivated to perform against defending champions New Zealand.
DC lost opener Srikar Bharat early but Mitchell Marsh, Rishabh Pant and Moeen Ali did their best to put up some fight before succumbing to CSK’s superb bowling attack in their own back yard – they ultimately totaled only an embarrassing 117 total all out by 18th over!
Devon Conway’s blistering 87 off just 54 balls helped Chennai Super Kings set an aggressive target. Ruturaj Gaikwad also played an instrumental part with 41 runs from only 40 deliveries, and MS Dhoni continued the theme by smashing three sixes and fours as CSK opened up an overwhelming advantage over their opponents.
DC’s spinners ensured they remained in control, with Moeen Ali taking three wickets and Mukesh Choudhary, Simarjeet Singh and Dwayne Bravo each taking two.
DC remained on 10 points despite losing, although other results may shift their way in order to qualify for play-off spots; RCB won earlier in the day and hope to continue their winning streak against Delhi while DC, SRH and PBKS must win all remaining matches to have any chance at qualifying for play-off spots.

Chennai Super Kings put on an impressive performance to beat Delhi Capitals at their final home game of the 2023 Indian Premier League season at MA Chidambaram Stadium.
CSK needed this win in order to make playoffs and erase memories of their disappointing second-place finish in 2022 IPL season.
Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway started off well for the visitors with an impressive first wicket partnership of 141 for 12 overs between them as they powered through DC’s bowling attack, before eventually being dismissed by Khaleel Ahmed and Anrich Nortje respectively.
Axar Patel, Yash Dhull and Aman Khan all got off to starts before failing to progress as DC disintegrated during the middle overs.
Prithvi Shaw attempted to up the ante but fell prey to Deepak Chahar who then beat him with an off-cutting ball to be caught at backward point by Ambati Rayudu.
Matheesha Pathirana proved too late, taking two wickets with two balls remaining of his over. A slower ball deceived Gaikwad into playing a holed-out catch to Rossouw at deep square leg while Pathirana also got Shivam Dube out at the final delivery of their innings.
With the win, CSK secured nine victories out of their final 10 matches and sealed their top four position on the points table.
It marked their seventh straight IPL win at home; thus giving them an 18 point lead over Kolkata Knight Riders, who also have nine victories out of 10. On Saturday they face Rajasthan Royals hoping for one last win to cement a top four finish.

Delhi Capitals defeated Chennai Super Kings by 20 runs at Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam under batting-friendly conditions on Wednesday evening, thanks to Rishabh Pant’s aggressive batting performance and tight middle over bowling by Delhi visitors who bowled stifling spells to keep CSK batsmen quiet.
The Capitals openers started cautiously, taking their time to assess the pace and bounce of the pitch at their home ground before quickly scoring 62 runs with no losses in the powerplay. David Warner then hit four fours and two sixes during an incredible innings of 52 off 35 balls while Prithvi Shaw chipped in with an unbeaten 42 off 27 deliveries.
CSK made a late rally led by Ajinkya Rahane and Daryl Mitchell, but their run rate remained slow due to DC bowlers keeping the pressure on.
Khaleel Ahmed provided plenty of movement in his initial three overs while Ishant Sharma and Anrich Nortje kept things tight with tight lines.
Mukesh Kumar struck twice within one over, first dismissing Rahane with an excellent catch at long-on, then picking off Sameer Rizvi with an outstanding leg-stump catch at short third-man.
Axar Patel was next to lose his wicket against Mukesh when he misfired his pull shot and edged the ball towards midwicket, bringing MS Dhoni into play.
Dhoni treated fans to two boundaries in his opening over, lofted Khaleel for six over long-on, then found the ropes off Mustafizur again for another six. However, despite Dhoni’s blitz in the final over, CSK were always well short of their target.
DC vs CSK 2025
CSK are looking to turn things around after two losses to take on DC at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday. DC are unbeaten after two victories under captain Axar Patel and look formidable so far this season.
Axar Patel’s side got off to an encouraging start during the first powerplay, with Rahul and Abishek Porel adding 54 runs for second wicket.
Unfortunately for them though, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway quickly succumbed to quick wickets, prompting Axar Patel’s men to adjust.
As the game entered its final overs, Delhi batsmen started to find their groove. Rahul scored his maiden IPL fifty off 33 deliveries to anchor their innings while Sameer Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs provided some late firepower.
Kuldeep Yadav and Noor Ahmad then combined to limit CSK’s run-rate. Dhoni and Vijay Shankar attempted to rebuild CSK’s innings but found the required run rate too steep to attain success.
MA Chidambaram Stadium’s pitch tends to favor spinners more than pacers, with its wicket providing significant assistance as play goes along. When conditions and bowlers perform as predicted, high-scoring matches are likely.
As play progresses however, the pitch tends to slow down with each passing inning making scoring big in early stages difficult; an average first innings score here typically sits around 160 runs; teams that bat first tend to have better odds at victory.
