CSK 154 for 5
Chennai Super Kings fell victim to another defeat as Sunrisers Hyderabad bowled them out for an embarrassingly low total at MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday, yet again losing seven out of nine matches and managing just two wins this season – leaving MS Dhoni’s men hoping they can avoid being relegated from the Indian Premier League table after this latest setback.
CSK batted first but struggled to get their innings going, with openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head struggling with the pitch and Khaleel Ahmed taking two decisive wickets: Abhishek for two ball duck in over two, followed by Ayush Mhatre’s fine catch to remove Abhishek in over three. Khaleel Ahmed dismissed Abhishek Sharma with just two balls remaining before taking Ayush Mhatre’s catch to dismiss Travis Head in over four for 19.
As CSK struggled, spin was introduced in the sixth over, with Noor Mohammed cleanly dismissing Zeeshan Ansari off Noor Mohammed to complete his stay at the crease. Ravindra Jadeja then fell for an easy run out off Mohammed Shami to leave CSK struggling at 77-5 in 15 overs.
CSK’s batsmen finally found their rhythm in the final over before lunch. Ishan Kishan and Kamindu Mendis both made contributions that kept pace with Jadeja, giving hope that perhaps CSK had a chance at reaching its target of 250 runs.
Shami proved otherwise and unleashed all his force into this innings. A quick short delivery bounced and hit Kishan on his pads at non-striker’s end; unfortunately he couldn’t make contact to ensure he did not become an lbw victim.
Kishan Kishan was finally caught by Vijay Shankar at long-on off the next ball, leaving SRH needing only 113 runs from 78 balls for victory. Although their chase started off slowly, Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy eventually helped their side recover some lost momentum and close out a five-wicket victory – moving SRH up one place into eighth with three wins and six losses and keeping themselves away from relegation play-off spot in Indian Premier League relegation play-off spot relegation play-off spot relegation play-off spot.

SRH made history at Chepauk to record an historic five-wicket win against CSK that revitalized their hopes of survival in the IPL. Ishan Kishan led an outstanding 44-ball knock while Kamindu Mendis unbeaten on 32 off 22 helped lead their hosts to a five-wicket triumph within 18.4 overs.
Pat Cummins won the toss and elected for SRH to bowl first, with Harshal Patel leading with four wickets supported by Cummins (2 for 28) and Jaydev Unadkat (2 for 21).
CSK batsmen found it difficult to cope with the difficult conditions as the ball occasionally spun on its side without offering much pace or spin. Dewald Brevis and Ayush Mhatre added some much-needed freshness, yet their efforts weren’t enough on this batting surface.
CSK continued their dismal run with the bat as they collapsed to 154 for 5 in 19.5 overs, led by debutant Brevis who hit some quality shots but was caught off long-off by Kamindu Mendis’ spectacular catch.
CSK were still well placed to chase down their target, having put pressure on SRH with quick finishes in previous encounters. However, some careless overs allowed SRH bowlers to get back into the game and put an end to CSK’s aggressive assault with some disciplined bowling from them.
Khaleel Ahmed provided the first breakthrough for Sunrisers when he caught Abhishek Sharma with an off-cutter from Anshul Kamboj, before two more wickets fell quickly after. Ishan Kishan and Nitish Kumar Reddy then rebuilt their innings until Reddy was bowled by Mohammed Shami; Kishan then hit winning runs to give Sunrisers their third win of the season while lifting them to eighth on the table, pushing CSK further down.
CSK 153 for 6
Chennai Super Kings have found themselves in a dire predicament, needing to win all remaining matches to retain their title. Unfortunately, they currently sit near the bottom of the table, meaning a loss would be disastrous for their playoff hopes. On Friday they face Sunrisers Hyderabad at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai in what promises to be an action-packed contest that showcases some of the top players from both teams of chennai super kings vs sunrisers hyderabad match scorecard.
CSK have replaced Eshan Malinga with Kamindu Mendis as they look for replacement bowlers for Mohammed Shami who is back from injury and Aniket Verma and Jaydev Unadkat have added depth in their bowling attack.
SRH will be without Vijay Shankar who is still recovering from knee injury, so Abhishek Sharma will make his debut for SRH instead. Additionally, there have been changes to their squad, with Ishan Kishan and Nitish Kumar Reddy joining.
SRH have had a disappointing IPL campaign thus far and have failed to win an IPL trophy since 2015. With an eye towards turning things around by finishing strongly this time around, SRH will hope for an outstanding finish to their campaign.
Anshul Kamboj has made an early statement by bowling carefully to extract bounce and pace from his ball, setting a 6-3 off-side field for Head with two mid-offs covering any holes that might exist in this innings. Batsmen must play to their strengths in order to build an innings against this pace-dominated bowling attack.

Mohammed Shami’s brilliant spell of 2/28 helped GT stem the run-flow, yet none of his teammates could contain their opponent’s run-rate. GT gained momentum late on thanks to Shubman Gill (61 off 43 balls), Washington Sundar (49) and Sherfane Rutherford (26) creating an unbeaten partnership of 142 runs between them.
Sherfane Rutherford delivered the match-winning blow with his six over deep backward point. With just seven overs left for them to achieve victory, Sherfane’s superb strike gave the visitors hope as it flew over the roof of the stand before returning with four fours into deep square leg for scores totalling 154/5 after 17 overs.
