Rishabh Pant 88 not out
Hardik Pandya wisely elected to field first after winning the toss for Gujarat and electing to field first against Delhi Capitals, losing openers Jake Fraser-McGurk and Prithvi Shaw early as soon as the new ball swung around. Rishabh Pant was the man to break Gujarat bowlers apart with an outstanding unbeaten 88 off 43 balls (5X4s and 8X6s). The wicketkeeper-batsman hit four sixes and eight fours, helping his side score 224 for 4 in their 20 overs. Axar Patel joined in by hitting 66 off 43 balls while Tristan Stubbs provided 26 off 7 balls batting behind Pant.

Promoted from number four, Axar completely revived DC’s innings with an excellent fifty, hitting unbeaten in 88 balls against GT in what became IPL history’s third highest fourth wicket partnership score.
Rishabh Pant proved equally formidable at the other end, joining Axar to form an essential 113-run stand that put up an intimidating total for their side.

Team management took a chance when they promoted Axar Patel to number 3. Their gamble paid off as Patel hit an unbeaten 65 off 43 deliveries for his best IPL score ever, taking three catches and one wicket along the way.
Shubman Gill was impressed by his team’s batting effort in their pursuit of 220, noting how important it is to score in such big chases without worrying too much about wicket loss in pursuit of such high targets. If they play like this every week then Shubman Gill feels they could go a long way this season.
