Yashasvi Jaiswal (98 off 47 balls)
Jaiswal was a treat to watch as he unleashed four fours and five sixes during his unbeaten 98-ball innings, supported by Sanju Samson (48 off 29 balls) as Rajasthan posted an incredible 121 run partnership to win in 13.1 overs.
Jaswal drove Chakaravarthy’s second delivery, the two-run single, into long-on for two runs. After making two attempts at lofting, including lofting over mid-on but being denied by an angle change. Jaswal attempted slog sweeping on ball five but was given out leg before wicket as KKR struggled with their bats.
After a mix-up cost Jos Buttler his wicket, Jaiswal emerged as the Royals’ main source of runs during their chase for victory. He achieved half-century in just 13 balls – making history by outrunning KL Rahul and Pat Cummins by one ball!
He showed great footwork and utilized gaps to attack spinners. Additionally, he was skilled at manipulating the field while smashing some sixes and fours during his innings. Jurel caught him unawares with one last delivery but nonetheless it was an honorable knock with many runs being scored at all costs; Buttler, Samson, Yuzvendra Chahal and Joe Root all proved worthy opponents during this matchup.
Shimron Hetmyer (27 off 10 balls)
One of the most memorable Indian Premier League finishes ever witnessed was witnessed on Sunday when Hetmyer’s brilliant cameo at the back end helped Rajasthan Royals narrowly beat Punjab Kings at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium by one run with one last ball at stake.
West Indies all-rounder Rashad McClinton entered with just 10 balls remaining and barely had any energy left, yet played an invaluable part in helping Rajasthan Royals win this match. He scored 27 off 10 balls while standing firm against Arshdeep Singh’s death-bowling specialist tactics and holding his nerve until they helped help cross the finish line with a ball left to spare.
Hetmyer helped RR after Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson were dismissed within successive overs by Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Kagiso Rabada from Sunrisers Hyderabad, including by sharing an unbroken 62-run partnership with Riyan Parag for the fifth wicket.
Hetmyer and Dhawan looked poised to lead KKR to victory until Dhawan was caught at long-on by Andre Russell off Australia fast bowler Mitchell Starc and Hetmyer was left in charge to ensure RR earned its ninth consecutive win of the tournament – and did so spectacularly, smashing a short-of-length delivery from Singh over backward point and sealing victory for his side with an astounding innings from this West Indies star.
Varun Chakaravarthy (2-32)
Varun Chakravarthy has been one of the Knight Riders’ stand-out performers this IPL. A bowler capable of unnerve any batter, Chakravarthy used slow deliveries effectively in the final overs against Mumbai Indians to pick two wickets and become their highest wicket-taker.
Chakravarthy is an intelligent bowler, who adapts his line and length according to the batsmen he is bowling at. He also alters his pace accordingly; Royals batters had no idea what to expect from Chakravarthy – in the 12th over, for instance, he bowled an aggressive short delivery that took the edge off Jasprit Bumrah before again striking by dismissing Towhid Hridoy with a full-toss in the 19th over.
Even after their loss to Bengaluru, Rajasthan remain second in the table and could move closer to reaching the playoffs by winning their next league game against Punjab Kings. Ajinkya Rahane will look to repeat his match-winning performance from their last encounter against Bengaluru to lead his side into playoff contention.
Mitchell Starc (2-26)
Australia look set to seize control as the final over begins and Starc pursues swing immediately while Cummins adds pace and venom, quickly earning himself one wicket – Robinson can’t hold onto a lofted pull that hits long leg and is bowled.
As the ball bounces over the rope, he quickly requests a review on grounds that it bounced over it. While an umpire gives up his decision, KKR opts for another look; unfortunately the replays don’t lend themselves well and they lose by 229.
Buttler appears determined as he slices a short one to long off for a boundary and follows it up by drilling another shorter delivery to mid off for another four. Finally, he pushes one past square leg for one run as he nears his maiden IPL hundred.
Rajasthan Royals scored an amazing two-wicket victory against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on Tuesday evening thanks to Jos Buttler’s magnificent innings of 107 off 106 balls (60b, 11×4, 6×6) which helped achieve the highest successful run-chase ever completed in IPL history and propelled them into first position in the table. Jos Buttler played with class all evening and will go down as one of the great IPL innings; he was rightly awarded Man of the Match honors. KKR players Varun Chakaravarthy and Harshit Rana chipped in with key wickets in mid overs which helped seal victory.

Sunil Narine (2-23)
The match appears destined to end in an exciting finish and it will be intriguing to see who emerges victorious from this high-scoring contest. KKR continue their dominance of points at the top while RR have moved up to fourth position on the ladder.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi is taking on the bowlers with some magnificent strokes as he approaches his half-century at Eden Gardens. Avesh Khan challenges him with a yorker but his West Indian opponent finds an angle to hit a boundary near deep backward point for four runs off it, winning applause from Eden Gardens fans as his run continues unchecked.
Jos Buttler has played an amazing innings, helping his side amass an enormous total. On the final ball from Varun Chakaravarthy he hit long-on for six and helped calm nerves within KKR dugout.
Rovman Powell was another fine spin player, batting beautifully and hitting hard. In one over from Chakaravarthy he struck four boundaries to score an unbeaten 50!
RR has an outstanding head-to-head record against their hosts, so this will be another crucial match in which to extend that advantage. They need a victory to remain within striking distance of finishing in the top two; Sanju Samson will no doubt be pleased with his team and Shimron Hetmyer is sure to notch another big score; unfortunately though R Ashwin won’t be involved due to injury concerns.
Harshit Rana (2-23)
Rana has been in fantastic form this season for KKR and played an instrumental part in their victory against SRH. He bowled four overs conceding only 33 runs while also picking up India C captain Ruturaj Gaikwad for five off 19 balls during a four-over spell that allowed only 33 to pass.
Suyash Sharma then produced another excellent over in which Heinrich Klaasen edged at Suyash’s slower delivery outside off stump, leading him to edge back outwards which Suyash caught at short third and held onto. Finally, Suyash dismissed Shahbaz Ahmed in the final over as KKR sealed an impressive four-run win!
Rana had an outstanding run for India-A in the ACC Emerging Cup 2022-23, picking up seven wickets at an average of 14.57 with five for 51 as his best figures. Additionally, this right-arm seamer picked up two wickets against SGX Tigers in Twenty20 match play in 2022.
Sanju Samson and Jos Buttler had provided Rajasthan a strong start, sharing a 76-run Powerplay partnership before Jos Buttler was trapped leg before by Yuzvendra Chahal for 20. Phil Salt and Shimron Hetmyer then contributed quickly with runs, helping ensure RR equalled IPL history’s highest successful run-chase while strengthening their position at the top of points table.
