At this stage, KKR have amassed an immense 98-run lead over LSG. Now is the time for action! The chase is underway!
Salt slog-swept it on-side for a boundary, followed by Dot and an infielder’s run out scare Angkrish escaping unscathed! Salt and Shreyas Iyer put on 63 runs together. Lucknow Super Giants vs Kolkata Knight Riders match scorecard showed the intensity of the game as both teams fought hard.
KKR 235/6
Sunil Narine led Kolkata Knight Riders to an outstanding 20 over total against Lucknow Super Giants at Ekana Stadium with his brilliant 81 not out, setting the tone for their innings and setting an unassailable start with Phil Salt and Narine sharing an opening partnership of over 80 runs in just the first powerplay over. By that stage they had raced ahead quickly with Salt at unbeaten on 61 while Narine stood unbeaten on 79; unfortunately however Yash Thakur bowled an expensive over which cost them dear as they lost both Phil Salt and Naveen Ul Haq within minutes after ending that powerplay over from Narine!
Ayush Badoni joins Salt in the middle, as KKR continue to dominate with bat and ball. On the last ball of an over, Angkrish Raghuvanshi narrowly escapes being run out as he taps Shamar Joseph’s full toss to long on. An inch away from hitting his stumps but somehow, an innocuous fielder manages to miss them instead and returns Angkrish safely back to his crease.
Narine remains in fine form as he completes his third fifty of the season off 39 balls and partners Angkrish Raghuvanshi to build up another 61-run partnership before Raghuvanshi is caught off a loose delivery from Harshit Rana at short mid wicket by Ravi Bishnoi off a loose delivery from Harshit Rana and caught by Ravi Bishnoi at short mid wicket off Ravi Bishnoi at short mid wicket by Ravi Bishnoi off Harshit Rana off an off stump delivery from Harshit Rana off a loose delivery from Harshit Rana off an off bowling Harshit Rana overs from Harshit Rana and Harshit Rana will look to build on their 200 plus score during their time at Ekana Stadium during their stay here overs long before having to face rivals who will challenge them once more in terms of oppositions bowlers.
Ramandeep Singh’s late order blitz allowed KKR to reach their target with plenty of time remaining despite it being significantly larger than what LSG expected them to chase down, yet was easily doable. LSG were bowled out for just 137 in 16.1 overs with Varun Chakaravarthy and Harshit Rana both taking three wickets each as they put KKR firmly in control of proceedings and move into second spot on IPL 2024 points table with 16 points from 11 matches and an improved net run rate than their northern rival RR (+1.453). They will face Mumbai Indians on Sunday.
LSG 161/7
Phil Salt and Shreyas Iyer did an exceptional job of leading KKR’s chase after losing an early wicket or two. Together they put on an outstanding partnership of 125 runs off just 62 balls to slowly build KKR’s innings; picking off variations in pitch conditions while keeping rotating the strike. Salt was smashing them all around while Iyer remained unbeaten on an impressive run-a-ball 38 average.
LSG were still on track for an impressive total when KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis fell quickly after each other. LSG attempted to accelerate in the powerplay but were denied by some magnificent bowling from KKR.
Mitch Starc bowled an outstanding final over, dismissing both Pooran and Arshad Khan while conceding only six runs! He had also taken an excellent catch from Ayush Badoni at deep square leg earlier.
Ayush Badoni attempted a big slog sweep but got top edged and hit directly down Angkrish Raguvanshi’s throat at deep square leg, going straight past him! Ayush was on 31 when this incident took place; LSG has already dropped three catches!
KKR pacers have not given away many runs and kept things in check. Varun Chakravarthy bowled an excellent spell where he only allowed five runs over two overs.
Nicholas Pooran batted well for LSG but couldn’t keep up the momentum after being dismissed. Starc induced him into taking an adventurous swing on an off-cutting full ball, leading him into hitting an outside edge which directly hit keeper Phil Salt who made an exceptional catch.
Harshit Rana also was not helping LSG by conceding too many runs during his overs. This included conceding multiple fours and even one six.

KKR 98 runs win
Phil Salt and Sunil Narine’s quickfire runs led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to victory against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 98 runs during an entertaining IPL match at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium on Sunday. When put into bat first inning by captain Rohit Sharma, Sunil Narine hit an outstanding 81 off 41 balls with six fours and seven sixes; off-spinner Phil Salt shared an opening over partnership of 79 between both players until KKR reached 100 without loss for just one wicket.
KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis’ impressive 82-run partnership in the second over provided some much-needed momentum for LSG; however, it quickly petered out as regular wickets fell for home side. After an initial 50-run second-wicket stand had seen some early promise restored, LSG innings rapidly unraveled before their late innings collapse with only Salt’s late surge and 25 from Ramandeep Singh providing any respite – they were eventually all out for just 137.
Harshit Rana and Varun Chakaravarthy led KKR’s charge with their spinners as they decimated LSG’s batting lineup to limit them under 200 runs scored. Both spinners claimed three wickets each while Andre Russell added another.
LSG were always going to face an uphill task in their chase of LSG’s target of 284, but any hopes of making a comeback quickly disappeared when key players such as captain KL Rahul and opener Deepak Hooda both perished cheaply as their team’s batting collapsed around them. Even Marcus Stoinis who scored 36 and had looked secure at the crease eventually fell prey to Yudhvir Singh’s bowling.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Phil Salt made an invaluable late push with a 67-run sixth wicket stand before Ravi Bishnoi was caught off Andre Russell’s bowling, leaving just 137 runs for LSG’s bowlers to bat with; which was their lowest batting performance ever in IPL history! With this win KKR notched their fourth victory of the season to move them up into second spot on the points table while getting closer to qualifying for playoffs with just two victories remaining before facing Delhi Capitals on Monday in their next matchup!
