Henry sent in a full toss aimed at the stumps, which was pushed off-side by Pooran for an instant double. Fans closely followed the Lucknow Super Giants vs Mumbai Indians match scorecard to see how this crucial moment would affect the game.
1st Innings
At 144 for 7, the game remains tied, with both sides offering 26 runs apiece. Nehal Wadhera led Mumbai Indians’ efforts with 46; Ishan Kishan and Tim David each chipped in 35 not out and 32 respectively for their teams. Mohsin Khan took three wickets while Marcus Stoinis, Ayush Badoni, Naveen-ul-Haq and Ravi Bishnoi all collected one wicket each.
LSG skipper KL Rahul noted that while his team may have been nervous in the chase, they remained confident they could achieve the target. He was particularly pleased with their bowling effort while their batsmen simply needed to build momentum – while middle-order batters like Pooran and Krunal played pivotal roles.
Chawla to Rahul: Short ball; Rahul attempts a wild swing which is caught at short fine leg and blocks the next delivery with ease before concluding the over with a single hit to deep square leg.
Piyush Chawla returned to the attack. He bowled several singles and wides to Hooda and Rahul before overpitching to Badoni again; Nehal Wadhera took an edge from one ball which Nehal was quick enough to pick up at short fine leg.
2nd Innings
After an uncertain start to their innings, Mumbai Indians rallied back to post a respectable total of 144/7. Ishan Kishan’s steady presence at the top and Nehal Wadhera’s careful middle overs bowling helped stabilize their innings to reach 57/4 by the end of powerplay batting. Unfortunately, their second half suffered major setback when three wickets fell rapidly at once.
Nicholas Pooran shone for Lucknow Super Giants as he scored 75 off 29 balls, sharing an 109-run partnership with KL Rahul that took their team into safety territory. Unfortunately, however, his good work was cut short when he holed out at long on off Piyush Chawla in the 18th over and was replaced by Ayush Badoni who hit two sixes during his short stay.
Krunal Pandya enters the attack. He bowls an easy short and wide delivery to Bishnoi who hits it out for four at long off. On the next delivery he attempts another slog sweep but got hit on his leading edge which enabled Nabi to easily take a simple catch and return him.
The match ended in drama as LSG chased down their target with four wickets remaining to secure their sixth victory and strengthen their place at number three in the table. On the other hand, Mumbai fell to their seventh loss and their playoff chances have diminished significantly as their batting struggled in the final overs. They remain at the bottom of the table, five points behind Delhi Capitals; Mayank Yadav left injured from this match!
3rd Innings
Mumbai made an unconvincing effort despite an uncertain start, led by Ishan Kishan and Nehal Wadhera’s steady presence in the middle. Unfortunately, however, that wasn’t enough to prevent LSG from easily reaching their target; their bowlers kept applying pressure through Mohsin Khan’s 2 for 36.
Pooran was an intelligent batsman during LSG’s chase for victory with just four balls remaining, putting bat on low full tosses to clear Tim David at mid off for a single and then proceeding to score another single closer to backward point region.
Nuwan Thushara joins MI in attack. At first he bowls wide outside off, called short. But he eventually goes a bit shorter to pitch the ball into Stoinis who hits it straight to deep midwicket for a boundary shot.
Krunal Pandya manages a couple of singles off his first two deliveries before trying for a big shot but missing it completely.
KL Rahul revealed that their team lost wickets at critical moments but then battled back successfully. Although he felt nervous throughout, Rahul is pleased with how his batters played and praises their bowlers for doing an outstanding job. Rahul also expressed that there will always be ups and downs in every game but advised players to remain persistent until victory has been attained; Mumbai Indians captain wished Lucknow Indians all the best in their next match and broadcast the match live via JioCinema app and website which is available free to all users in India.
4th Innings
LSG are in an advantageous position to win this match and are confident of securing their victory with just two deliveries remaining – they lead by 18 runs with only two more to go until their victory will seal it and move up the points table to third position.
Naveen Ul Haq will conclude LSG’s PowerPlay, and strikes immediately with his first ball! A full delivery around off and it lands in Ishan Kishan’s blockhole; his attempt at running through was caught at backward point for 18 runs scored by LSG with Nehal Wadhera now at bat for them.
Mumbai Indians suffered their fifth loss out of six matches this season and 18 runs was enough for defeat. Their players battled hard but could not score enough runs to secure victory; their batsmen struggled in pursuit and ultimately were bowled out for 196 runs. Spinner Piyush Chawla and Sri Lankan pacer Nuwan Thushara both picked up three wickets each, with Nicholas Pooran scoring an excellent half century supported by KL Rahul and Krunal Pandya contributing runs as well. But it wasn’t enough; MI players will look to improve in future matches to come back stronger next season.
5th Innings
The reigning champions have lost two out of three matches to slip into sixth position on the points table and are hoping that their form improves before entering playoffs.
Mohammad Nabi bowled the final over for LSG and as the ball skidded through the air it landed safely, taking Nabi several moments to watch its descent as he took an extraordinary catch with both hands – something which many fielders would have likely dropped had it come closer.
Nicholas Pooran attempts to score a single with smart batting from Nicholas Pooran. He plays a low full toss on middle, keeping it low before flicking it in towards mid wicket where Tim David cannot reach it, leading to a run-out and some intelligent batsmanship by Pooran.
KL Rahul is trying his hardest to gain selection for India’s World Cup squad; however, Mumbai batsmen are attacking him regularly as the Indian cricket team hopes to win its next match and reach the top four on its points table.
Nicholas Pooran led Lucknow Super Giants to their third win of this Indian Premier League season by his brilliant batting display, helping them defeat Mumbai Indians by 18 runs and secure their third victory overall. Rohit Sharma will lead India at T20 World Cup 2019, scoring 68 off 38 balls while Naman Dhir made valuable contributions, but ultimately it wasn’t enough to avoid relegation from MI.
