Patrick Mahomes

Colts three-and-out possessions soon followed, including an attempted third-and-four pass from Jones to wide receiver Josh Downs that was negated due to a facemask penalty on cornerback Charvarius Ward Sr. On their next drive, however, Chiefs drove into red zone territory thanks to several chunk gains, and forced short Harrison Butker field goal to increase their lead by 24-17 with less than five minutes left in regulation play.
On the first possession of overtime, both teams traded three-and-out possessions until Chiefs defense forced a punt. Following said punt, Ward lost possession and it was recovered by linebacker Zaire Franklin at their 44-yard line.
The Chiefs made another long, clock-churning drive toward their goalline before Mahomes and Rice attempted to connect on third down, only for it to be negated by a roughing the passer penalty called on cornerback Xavier Worthy for roughing the passer.

This game was an exceptionally close second half contest; neither side led by more than two points until Butker kicked the decisive field goal with less than one minute left in overtime to give Kansas City its first road victory of 2018 and improve their record to 6-5.
