Patrick Mahomes
Patrick Mahomes is currently the starting quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs and holds their all-time career passing yards and touchdowns records.
Additionally, he was honored with two AFC Offensive Player of the Week awards as well as winning four other honors including being recognized with awards from AP, NFL, PFWA SI 101 in September 2019 (AP Award winner in one case and SI Award in another). As the Giants struggled through another loss under new head coach John Harbaugh, rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart was turned to in the third quarter; unfortunately due to some early and late mistakes from Dart, no victory could be obtained yet this season.
Cam Skattebo led the Giants at running back, totaling 121 yards from scrimmage on 16 carries for an impressive total. Additionally, Skattebo found success late in the year after struggled to make ground. He scored touchdowns in both of the last two games played against them.
New York was without rookie linebacker Micah McFadden (foot), as well as backup inside linebacker Darius Muasau (concussion/eye). Therefore, rookie Abdul Carter took on off-ball linebacking duties extensively throughout college – earning four tackles and one pass deflection before ultimately finishing with five total.
Graham Gano was sidelined due to a groin injury but is expected to return next week.

After posting a 507-yard, 37-point performance against their division rival the Dallas Cowboys last Sunday, the Giants struggled in both passing and running against Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday at MetLife Stadium, losing 22-9 in an upset. Only one third down out of 10 attempts was converted and they failed to score inside their red zone again – an alarming figure after season opener against Dallas left them with only 20% scoring rate inside it.
Cam Skattebo led the Giants despite missing running back Darius McFadden with another outstanding rookie performance on Sunday, rushing for 115 yards and two touchdowns while also collecting six passes for 61 yards in receptions. Skattebo is just one of many new Giants making an impactful statement this year as one of their rookie classes.
Skattebo put the Giants ahead 13-0 early on as he caught a short pass from quarterback Jaxson Dart and used his speed to break free and break into open field, then raced down the right sideline past Zack Baun for an 11-yard touchdown run putting them up 13-0.
On the next Giants drive, Mahomes and Kenneth Thornton connected on a 33-yard gain nearing the goalline – however, due to some excellent defensive work by Kansas City Chiefs they were able to prevent this goal and turn over possession on downs instead.
Skattebo found his way to the end zone again with a 1-yard rushing touchdown late in the second quarter, following Dart’s 71-yard catch and run to tight end Travis Beckum who finished with an all-time career-high of 62 receiving yards.

Butker faced an immediate test on Sunday when Giants starter Graham Gano’s injured left groin forced him into field goal kicking duties, forcing Gunner Olszewski to act as the holder; on their first PAT attempt they missed, but Butker made no mistakes on subsequent kickoffs.
Giants defense was forced to deal with an extra threat on kickoffs as rookie running back Saquon Barkley proved himself as an aggressive returner, amassing over 100 yards during the opening two weeks of the season and hoping to add even more against Chiefs.
However, the Chiefs managed to contain Barkley and limited him to just one catch on 10 attempts. Meanwhile, their offense struggled to reach the red zone against an improved Chiefs defense.
At halftime, the Chiefs jumped out to a 13-3 lead after Butker converted two 31- and 48-yard field goals for them. Later in the third quarter, Butker made another 30-yarder that extended their advantage further – pushing their advantage up to 21-6 against New York Giants’ punt attempt and keeping any potential scoring opportunities away from them.
