CSK vs LSG
The Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Super Giants rivalry is relatively young but already producing thrilling encounters.
Since LSG joined the tournament in 2022, both sides have met five times – with LSG holding an edge in terms of head-to-head results (3 wins to CSK’s 1, with one match ending without result).
Both teams appear evenly matched on paper – meaning this match-up at Ekana Cricket Stadium promises to provide an entertaining battle between experience and emerging talent.
After winning the toss, CSK decided to bowl first and were quickly rewarded for their choice with an outstanding start as Rahul Tripathi took an exceptional diving catch running backwards from cover in just the first over to send back Aiden Markram in style.

Under pressure he struck an 11-ball 26* at boundary-laden 11 ball to ease his side across the line without incident, while Shivam Dube also made significant contributions with 37 ball 43* of his own to seal this win.
With this victory CSK ended their five-match losing streak against LSG at Ekana Cricket Stadium as well as their three match winning run and moved up the points table from second position with seven points from three matches played against them compared with two matches lost.
CSK: MS Dhoni (c & wk), Suresh Raina
Suresh Raina has had an outstanding cricket career. Representing India in over 200 ODIs as both left-handed batsman and occasional right-arm off spinner.
Also an exceptional fielder and award winner for his performances, Raina helped India secure two World Cup victories while being an integral member of their T20 side as well.
Raina has developed an incredible relationship with MS Dhoni. Both players have enjoyed playing together and showing their mutual admiration; also, working in various T20 leagues around the globe together has cemented this bond further. Both share great respect for one another’s careers which have benefitted greatly as a result.
Dhoni and Raina face an immense task with regards to improving India’s team performance. They must upgrade both bowling and batting departments so as to compete with top teams worldwide – an immense challenge, yet one they are certainly up for tackling.
Raina was instrumental in India chasing down their target of 260 against Rajasthan Royals recently, scoring 26 off just 11 balls to help ensure victory for his side. Over the years, he has become an indispensable component of CSK and their winning teams.
Raina hails from Muradnagar in Uttar Pradesh and was born 27 November 1986. An aggressive left-handed middle-order batsman, Raina has an impressive strike rate and good technique – qualities which have won him several awards and made him a fan favourite across India. Raina has had an exceptional cricketing career and currently plays for India’s T20 squad.
LSG: Rishabh Pant
Rishabh Rajendra Pant is an Indian wicket-keeper batsman. He currently represents both his national cricket team and Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League, serving as captain.
Pant is widely respected for his aggressive batting style that generates runs quickly across both formats of cricket. Hard working yet successful at every form of the game.
He grew up in Roorkee, Uttarakhand and dreamt of becoming a cricketer since an early age. Through dedication and hard work he quickly progressed through the game – debuting first for Ranji Trophy and then List A at 18.
Since then his meteoric rise has not stopped: during 2016 U-19 World Cup he stunned everyone with his sensational batting skills, becoming the youngest wicketkeeper ever to score a century at that level!
Pant echoes Adam Gilchrist in his batting style, preferring to hit balls over long off and square leg while also hitting into boundary areas. With an exceptional strike rate he can become an invaluable match winner on any given day.
He was the top run scorer for Delhi Capitals during past seasons of the Indian Premier League (IPL). In 2018, he scored an unbeaten 128 from 63 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad to score his team’s highest individual score ever.
Additionally, he is India’s first ever wicketkeeper to score a century in T20I play and represents an immensely dangerous asset at the back of an innings.
LSG: R Ashwin
Ravichandran Ashwin is an Indian spinner who currently represents Chennai and India. Born and raised in Chennai, he immersed himself in its cricket culture through both of his parents; one played club-level cricket while his other taught.
Ashwin attended Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan and St Bede’s School where his love for cricket blossomed further. Before switching from medium pace bowling to off spin bowling in 2008 – also proving solid as both batsman and wicket-taker for Tamil Nadu domestic cricket as well.
After an impressive domestic season, Ashwin made his way onto the Indian Test team. He replaced Harbhajan Singh during South Africa’s second Test match of 2009 before playing an integral part of India’s 2023 World Cup campaign (losing out only to Australia). Although India lost in the final, he delivered consistently throughout their campaign.
Ashwin returned the next season to lead Tamil Nadu to victory in both the Vijay Hazare Trophy and Ranji Trophy semi-finals.
Additionally, he played for Indian Super Kings in the IPL, making it all the way to their 2019 final victory; unfortunately though he missed that year due to an unfortunate sports hernia injury.
Ashwin first began playing for CSK before moving on to Rising Pune Supergiants for one season before returning for two more. He was traded back by Rising Pune in 2020 when they made him available as trade bait, ultimately joining Kings XI Punjab (now Delhi Capitals).
Ashwin, known for his carrom ball skills, became part of Kings XI Punjab (now Delhi Capitals). A wily offspinner known for his carrom ball play for India Test team has gone down as legendary, and his recent tour to Australia as well as defeat of England against them has only increased his reputation further and made him one of top performers within IPL too.
LSG: Matheesha Pathirana
