ODIs
Women’s World Cup ODIs are of paramount importance for teams competing, as their winner will become world champion. Furthermore, winning these matches can give teams bonus points and secure them a spot in the semi-finals – further helping them toward reaching victory and lifting the trophy! Furthermore, ODIs are very popular with fans and tend to draw large audiences.
India women’s cricket team is in fine form heading into this year’s World Cup tournament. Since the start of 2025, their record is impressive and captain Harmanpreet Kaur believes her side can defeat Australia “on any given day.” Defending champions New Zealand will kick-off proceedings with an explosive trans-Tasman matchup at Indore; England and Pakistan are sure to provide fierce competition throughout.

Delhi-born Pratika Rawal proved her capabilities when Harmanpreet wasn’t available, scoring quickly in her opening innings alongside vice-captain Smriti Mandhana to set a solid total total score.

India have much to prove against the Windies in their home series against them. Since their exit from group-stage of the World Cup in 2017, they have struggled in T20Is and need to improve both batting and bowling performances. Furthermore, this series will allow both sides to build squads ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup taking place in England.
India remains in contention to win the series despite losing two T20Is; their final match will take place at Kotambi in Vadodara on December 21. Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur have proven themselves this year; topping both Asia Cup and World Cup run charts respectively.
India has struggled in T20Is recently for various reasons, such as lack of support from teammates and inexperience against tight matches and playing conditions.
Individual players such as Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma and Hemalatha have not made significant contributions; Shikha Pandey and Vartika Joshi also failed to score big runs.
As India takes on Windies at home in T20Is, they will look to extend their dominance in T20 Internationals. Even with such limited preparation time, India hopes that they can secure another win and kickstart World Cup preparations successfully. In contrast, Windies have never defeated India and will need to improve both batting and bowling performances to become competitive against them.
One-day internationals
ODIs (one-innings internationals) are 50 over per side matches played over one innings and are the most widely followed form of cricket worldwide, featuring 11-player teams of 11 each until either all members of one side are out or the game comes to an end via applying Duckworth-Lewis method.
