KKR vs SRH
In 2025’s Indian Premier League season, former champions KKR and runners-up SRH will both make their return, hoping to vie for supremacy at the final standings table.
These teams have met 28 times previously in this competition – with KKR holding an overwhelming 18-9 head-to-head advantage.
KKR will open their campaign with home matches against Delhi Daredevils and Lucknow Super Giants before traveling to Mumbai on April 7. Originally scheduled for May 19, the final fixture has now been moved due to India-Pakistan tensions.
Bengaluru-based side have retained batsmen Robin Uthappa, Piyush Chawla and Kuldeep Yadav by using their Right-To-Match (RTM) cards, while they have added fast bowler Ishank Jaggi, South African uncapped all-rounder Cameron Delport, Indian fast bowler Apoorv Wankhade and West Indian uncapped batsman Kamlesh Nagarkoti into their squad.
After an initially slow start to their campaign, KKR have found their rhythm recently and will enter this match as favourites.
Looking to secure their first away win of the year on pitches that provide some give, SRH have struggled on pitch surfaces that provide some give and could offer them an opening against them.
After struggling against RCB in their previous game, Sunrisers Hyderabad were reduced to fifth place and are keen to restore their standing when hosting KKR on Monday evening. KKR finished second during 2024 IPL season before losing out in the final to Mumbai.
SRH won the toss and elected to bat first, which proved fruitful as they quickly raced to 168/3 in 12 overs with Travis Head scoring an unbeaten 76-ball 107 not out and Heinrich Klaasen smashing seven fours and nine sixes between them to take them all the way up to 278/3 in 20 overs.
KKR’s bowlers struggled early on. Vaibhav Arora conceded runs at will while Anrich Nortje and Varun Chakaravarthy couldn’t stem the tide of runs either. Finally, Harshit Rana delivered with an outstanding spell removing Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan consecutively to leave SRH reeling at 9/3.
Manish Pandey and Harshit Rana made attempts at rebuilding the innings but were ultimately unsuccessful in doing so. They posted a 52-run stand before Rana was stumped by Vijay Shankar in the penultimate over of their innings.
Even amid their collapse, KKR managed to come within striking distance of their target thanks to some late fireworks from Manish Pandey and Harshit rana.
Unfortunately for them though, Jaydev Unadkat and Ehsan Malinga ensured they would fall short; their last eight wickets fell for just five runs to give KKR their biggest defeat of runs this season – as well as being their heaviest Eden Gardens loss since losing against RCB back in 2016. As such KKR will finish sixth overall.
