South Africa vs. India
The South Africa national cricket team is a professional side that represents South Africa in international cricket competition.
A member of the International Cricket Council, it competes in limited overs format at Centurion in Pretoria with Cricket South Africa serving as its governing body. Over 1000 Test matches have been played since 1996 with South Africa winning 60 percent; additionally they hold ODI wins records and won Champions Trophy 1998!
South African team is led by Russell Peters and Dale Steyn and features an eclectic group of fast bowlers and experienced batsmen – with Hashim Amla being one of the greatest run scorers ever seen in Test cricket history. South Africa have won four ICC World Cup semi-finals but never managed to make it to the final.
CSA is an affiliate of the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) and full member of the International Cricket Council (ICC), providing oversight for men’s and women’s cricket in South Africa – including player training, coach development, administration of domestic tournaments as well as international matches.
South Africa was one of three nations that first took up Test cricket in 1889, but they experienced a disastrous debut with 10 defeats and only one draw from their initial 11 tests. It would take 17 years until they could record their first victory; even then it would be another 20 until they were consistently beating opposition players.
Racial discrimination was widespread during this period; nonetheless, the Cricket South Africa (CSA) managed to produce an outstanding team which dominated international cricket – Hansie Cronje, Allan Donald and Shaun Pollock were notable stars at this time.
Unfortunately, due to anti-apartheid concerns the International Cricket Council banned South Africa in 1970 thus ending careers such as Mike Procter and Graeme Pollock.
The Proteas are currently one of the premier teams in limited overs cricket, regularly featuring in the top ten world rankings.
Their ODI and T20 kits consist of a green shirt with yellow accents featuring dark green stylised protea leaves and the national flag on its left breast as well as matching trousers; fielding hats may feature either green baseball caps or sunhats bearing their “King Protea Badge”.

India and South Africa will begin their three-match ODI series at Ferozeshah Kotla Ground in Delhi on 30 November, with India fielding a full strength squad for this three-match contest. Temba Bavuma will lead South African side while Aiden Markram will join him for T20Is to be played at same venue; Lungi Ngidi will provide cover for injured Kagiso Rabada.
T20Is
The Proteas have announced full-strength squads for their upcoming white-ball series against India, starting on 30 November and running to 6 December with matches taking place in Ranchi and Raipur.
Temba Bavuma will captain ODI team during three matches from 30 November to 6 December while Aiden Markram will lead T20I team for five matches from 09 – 19 December; North West batsman Rubin Hermann has also been included for the inaugural time.
The International Cricket Council T20 World Cup, introduced in 2007, brought 20-over cricket to a worldwide audience and attracted large crowds and media coverage. Since then, its popularity has skyrocketed, sparking domestic leagues that offer lucrative contracts alongside high-level competition.
T20 matches are fast-paced and highly entertaining affairs that challenge players to be quick and creative to win, prompting innovations in batting and bowling techniques – such as reverse sweep and switch hit; slower ball bouncers and off-spin yorkers being created by bowlers as delivery methods; this format has provided more opportunities for young players to showcase their abilities on an international stage.
South Africa’s fast-paced batsmen have been the backbone of its recent success in both one-day internationals (ODI) and Twenty20 Internationals (2024 T20 World Cup). Quinton de Kock in particular has scored seven centuries across both formats and helped even out their series with India at 1-1 while qualifying for participation.

Tests
India will begin their home schedule after returning from its white-ball tour of Australia, starting with two Test matches at Eden Gardens beginning November 14 and one Test match in Guwahati starting December. Ranchi, Raipur and Visakhapatnam will host three ODIs each while Cuttack Dharamshala and Lucknow host five T20I matches between these matches.
South Africa will be led by Temba Bavuma in ODIs and Aiden Markram will lead their T20I side. South African cricket fans should look forward to a boost from Quinton de Kock, who equaled Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most consecutive ODI hundreds with his 134th century against India at Kolkata in April.
